It's been a goal of mine for a while to learn more html techniques and fix up my website, and it's finally become a reality. I've slowly been working on this site for over a month, but over the last couple days I've put in a real push, so that I could drop let me talk at shoe 2.0 on the one year anniversary of the launch of my blog.

The content is sparse right now, but I plan on dedicating my summer to creative projects, so I should have a lot of things to share soon. I have some musical projects that I'm going to start working on immediately, and I still plan on releasing monthly mixes. I bought a bike recently, so I'll be going on photography adventures, as long as it doesn't continue to rain like it has been. And, I want to get back into screen printing, so I may have some free prints to give away.

Also, since this is a new website, the RSS feed has changed, so make sure to update it to http://letmetalkatshoe.com/rss.xml, if you're the kind of person that's discovered the amazing benefits of following RSS feeds.

School has been my main priority lately, so of course when I had to finish my project, put together a portfolio, and then help set up a gallery exhibition (which is closing on monday night, check it out at http://afictionalexchange.com), I obviously didn't have the time to record an April Mix. Shortly after I got my life back, I recorded a mix, but at that point, I had more-or-less shut down my blog, so I didn't have a means of releasing it. I now present the lost april mix.

Grab it on my music page, which now easily consolidated all of my mixes (and other future musical projects).

I would love to fill this site with more creative content, but I've been busy with summer courses and working full time. I worked out this latest mix almost two weeks ago, recorded it last week, and finally uploaded it recently. There's been a lot of good hip hop out recently, so naturally, that's what made it into the mix. I'm working on a bonus mix, and I'm going to try getting the mixes back on schedule for the end of the month, once I finally catch up on blog reading. Also, I hope to get some original music up within the month and maybe some art, too. I'm also working on setting up a photo page where I can dump a bunch of the pictures I've been taking for school in the last couple years.

The new mix is finally here! I thought I would be back on schedule with the mixes, and possibly get even more content up this month, but working full time has been ruining my life. One good thing about working a lot is that I have money to buy things like: Adobe CS5, a new iPod, A-Trak's 'Dirty South Dance 2' cd & poster, J Dilla 'Donut Shop' vinyl set, Parra clothes, and a lot of alcohol. Life is pretty good minus the fact that I can't commit time to my creative projects.

Anyways, the new mix clocks in at 1:13:36 -- I figured I'd throw in a couple extra tracks for the week's wait. A lot of weird indie stuff on this one, plus some solid hip hop tracks like the diplomats reunion song!! So pumped Jim and Cam deadded their beef.

I recently took the time to update the organization and labelling of my mixes! The page looks the same, but I changed how they appear in iTunes, or whatever music software you're using. I've arranged the mixes by year, numbering the months as sequential tracks, so that you can easily listen to them continuously. Also, in addition to the single file mix, I've made split track versions of the mixes available (in .zip files). Now people can immediately know what song they're listening to, or skip a song they don't like. Some playback methods may ruin the continuity of the mix by pausing in between songs, but at least the option is there, right? For all the mix purists out there who are concerned about it being properly mixed, the single file is definitely the way to go.

Also, I'm happy to announce that I've added album art to the mixes. 2009's image features the Air Force II, as depicted in the header of my previous blog layout, and 2010 is a vector illustrated version of the Jordan I, with some crazy colours.

Now that I have CS5, I'm going to try and create a flash player so that I don't have to rely on the ugly embed style resulting from going to the direct link of an mp3. It probably won't be up any time soon, but one day I'll make it happen.

The new mixes are finally here! I thought I should come back in force, so I have 6 new mixes to make up for my lack of activity lately.

First of all, I've uploaded my July and August mixes. I know they're pretty much irrelevant now, as it's early October, but you can at least get an idea of what I was listening to at the time. I'm also taking this opportunity to announce that these will be my final 'monthly mixes'. Now that I'm working more often, I'm back to school, and not to mention working on multiple musical projects, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up on current music and compile a mix on a timely basis. I am playing more live sets though, so I will definitely be uploading those for you to enjoy.

Recently I made a mix cd for a friend with stuff I was currently listening to, and since it wasn't a 'monthly mix' or a dance set, it allowed me to put together a few tracks that I rarely get to share. I tried to reach in to the depths of my music collection to find the more obscure tracks, which made it harder to fade between them, but it was also super fun to figure it out.

About a month ago, my friend Mac moved to Vancouver, and I was the 'headlining' dj for his going away house party. In my opinion, part 1 is my definitive dj set right now, as it took me about 6 hours to prepare a 45 minute set. Then my buddy Tony Neu came on to cool the party out a while, before I came back and closed it out. Part 2 is mostly dubstep, but has a witch house interlude, and I brought it back to a full-on dance party for a little.

Last but certainly not least is my recent foray into witch house. I've been putting some witch in my sets for a couple months now, but I wanted to do a full witch mix, and even a witch remix of my own. For this [and future witch house / dubstep / death electro music], I made a separate music page, under the moniker Slab Serif or SLBSRF. Possessions #1, and my accompanying remix, are hopefully just the start to a whole load of witchy goodness.

Okay, there you have it: six mixes.

Now come party on friday.

Recently, I was invited to DJ at a friend's birthday. I was pretty hung over the day of the party, due to seeing GOBBLE GOBBLE the night before, but I don't pass up an opportunity to DJ in exchange for free beer. As it turned out, I ended up DJing for 4 hours straight, met some cool people, and played a couple requests.

I recorded the whole thing so you could experience 'devil at 21' in all it's glory.

First of all, it's probably too late to post on here, but tonight me and my Astronaut Breakfast boys are opening up for DJ Co-op & DJ Hunnicutt, and Telephoned. In commemoration for this, I made a mix entitled Space Raps. Also, I realized that I neglected to add my first Astronaut Breakfast promo mix to the list of music, so I posted that up.

In other news, I was participating in a tweetbeef with @CHlNGCH0NG last week, and decided to raise the stakes with a diss track, following the lead of @tim_co_op vs. @rawwdman. It turned out pretty good for just a couple of hours of work, so I decided to post that too.

I'm currently working on an SLBSRF project that is tentatively titled Sextape Mixtape, which incorporates sex, hip hop, and witch house. Hopefully it'll be finished in a few weeks, and it may even feature some collaborations from friends.

I haven't released a lot of music lately, but I've been busy playing parties over the last few months. As of this year, I'm AVLA certified, so I can "legally" dj in the eyes of the copyright police. It wasn't something I ever intended to get, but in order to dj at work, my manager said it would be necessary. It kind of works in my favour though, because now I can do more freelance gigs. Now that I'm back to school, I'm in a decent routine, so I made time to put together another witch house mixtape: Possessions #2.

I started a tumblr page, in an effort to house all of my random ideas that don't have a place on here, twitter, or facebook; check it out at degenerate interval.

And I have another party announcement, Astronaut Breakfast is playing the U of M Architecture back to school party, titled ROBOT LOVE, Friday, January 21st.
